Since we began the World Records party a little over a year ago we've had this particular session as number one on our hit list. Two heavyweight artists in their own right vocalist Fatima and DJ, radio host and Eglo label head Alexander Nut make their Cellar Door debut for a special evening of soulful sounds and UK meets Australian musical energy. Through collaborations with Dam Funk, Funkineven, Shafiq Husayn, Scratcha DVA and The Floating Points Ensemble, Fatima's unique talents were quickly recognized leading to the creation of Yellow Memories, an album recorded between London and Los Angeles and originally released on Eglo Records. Yellow Memories featured production work from the likes of Floating Points, Theo Parrish, Oh No, Scoop DeVille, Computer Jay, Knxwledge, and Flako, and gained notice from Pitchfork who called Fatima 'a uniquely captivating vocalist' and Rolling Stone naming Yellow Memories one of their 'Best R&B Albums of 2014' . In 2016 Fatima signed to Blue Note France who re-issued her classic album, immediately starting work on an exciting and highly anticipated label debut. Her live shows are deep, honest and true, winning over audiences globally with that distinctive voice and captivating stage presence. Alexander Nut has made a name for himself as one of the UK's most diverse and influential DJ's and tastemakers, blending all corners of the musical spectrum, be it a glimmering prism of late-night futurism or a tropical mix of sun soaked rhythms. Having honed his skills at London’s legendary Plastic People, the highly respected DJ’s unique vision has seen him play to some of the finest dance floors around the globe. An avid record collector, his expansive taste and knowledge draws heavy on influences from House, Soul, Hip Hop, Jazz, Afrobeat, Techno and Funk… uninhibited by tempo or time zone. Alex is also the man behind Eglo Records, the label he co-founded with Floating Points in 2008, home to some of the most exciting, forward thinking music coming out of the UK. Responsible for seminal releases from Henry Wu, Fatima, Funkineven, Steve Spacek, Dego & Kaidi, Shafiq Husayn, Anderson Paak and many more. His NTS radio show and live sets are the stuff of legend landing him global recognition for his eclecticism, taste-making sensibilities and skills behind the turntables.
