Jazz! Attack! #2 April 24 2017

Our new monthly event with a focus on food, wine and the best Jazz in the city. Upfront, uptempo, a reset on Jazz as you know it. Think Yussef Kamaal, Kamasi Washington et al alongside the music of Blue Note Records to complete reinterpretations of Jazz standards to the progressive sounds of the contemporary global movement. This month features the Cake Jazz all-stars as a 3 piece on the improvisational tip, merging the past with the present while looking into the future. The lineup includes Ross Ferraro (The Goods/The Posse) on drums, Daniel Pliner (The Strides/Cardboard Heroes) on keys and Jarrol Renaud (The Goods/The Posse) rounding out the trio on bass and electronics for a progressive set heavily influenced by the sounds of Hip Hop, Beats, Electronic vibes, Broken Rhythms and more. Resident selectors Tom Studdy, and Edward Lyons, aka Princeton Parker fill in the gaps and join the dots between old and new sounds. The future sound of Jazz is NOW. Entry is free so get down early to be guaranteed a spot and come check the vibe before the big one at Pies In The Sky.
