Jazz!Attack! Madlib Tribute August 30 2017

Otis Jackson Jr. known by most as Madlib, is widely recognised as one of the most diverse and creative producers of our time. His works pull from a myriad of influences from jazz, soul, funk, psych, rock to reggae through to soundtracks, broken beats, electronic music and wherever the crates are deepest and darkest. With a prolific career spanning 20 years he has crafted classic songs and albums with and for the likes of Mos Def, MF Doom, Erykah Badu, J Dilla, Lootpack Freddie Gibbs and Ghostface Killa (to name a few), as well as diverse solo records under aliases such as Quasimoto The Beat Konducta, Yesterday's New Quintet, Dj Rels, Young Jazz Rebels and also plenty more. Simply put there are few current producers quite as acclaimed and revered as this man. For this incredibly special edition of Jazz! Attack! we welcome a collective on the rise in the Sydney live Jazz scene, Cardboard Heroes, back to the Cellar Door to delve into the musical abyss known as Madlib's mind. The group will go deep, playing live interpretations of his solo and collaborative work along with his offshoot projects, cruising through cuts from Madvillian, Quasimoto, Madlib Medicine Show, Yesterday's New Quintet alongside production work featured on songs from the likes of Erykah Badu, Mos Def, Jaylib, MF Doom and many more. Please join us for what will no doubt be a very memorable night of music, celebrating and paying tribute to one of our favourite musical renegades
