Location Surry Hills, Sydney
The Cake Wines Rooftop dinner series is a chance for us to bring together 4 of our favourite things; Wine, food, art and music. With so many unused but spectacular rooftops around the city we thought it would be a great idea to bring some of them to life!
Food – The menu was produced by Studio Neon, all produce is completely origin traceable, sustainable, and free range where applicable. We spoke with founder and head Chef of Studio Neon, Aaron, about his approach to food and the importance of the ethical food movement.
Wine – For us, great wine making is about 3 things. First and foremost its about crafting wines that are approachable and enjoyable to drink. Secondly its about being stylistically true to the grape and region, while retaining just enough complexity to keep you guessing. And thirdly its about delivering the right balance of fruit sweetness, acidity and tannin to produce a well rounded and balanced wine that over-delivers for its price. With that in mind we matched the menue to our 2012 Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris.
Art – Gallery 2010 is one of Sydney’s newest contemporary art spaces set up with the aim of supporting the creative development and experimentation of its exhibiting artists. Kevin Tran (who’s work appears on our Pinot Noir label) has recently returned from London with a new body of work “South of the River”. His surrounded the dinning table and spoke to him about his new collection and the influences behind the work.
